Deep tissue massage differs from other types of massage in several ways. While traditional massage focuses on relaxation and uses lighter strokes to soothe and calm the muscles, deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle tissue to address chronic pain and tension.
Deep tissue massage also uses slower and more intense pressure than other massage techniques, and can involve techniques such as friction, compression, and stretching. This allows the massage therapist to access and work on deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, where chronic tension and adhesions are often located.
